How can artistic practices hope to achieve the transfer of complex political, institutional and social antagonisms into a materiality of representation, i.e. what role can concepts of representation play?
Do the artists and cultural initiatives or institutions in countries experiencing social conflict or upheaval automatically have to define themselves through these conflicts? Isn’t this expectation in itself a preposterous attribution of cultural and political identity?
